Lisa: My Vaser Lipo Story

Today we’ve got another patient story to share; this one’s from Lisa, in London, who underwent vaser liposuction with us not long ago.

Lisa tells us about her concerns with surgery abroad, which is something we come across quite often here at Secret Surgery. “I was really apprehensive about going and having surgery abroad without meeting the consultant before travelling. Lots of friends had expressed concern about my trust in overseas surgery.”

Were your fears soon allayed? “Having travelled to Poland I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated and the professionalism and kindness that I was shown. The surgeon and hospital were fantastic. I am really pleased with the results, and am hoping to go back at some point in the future.”

Wow, excellent! We often see a big turnaround in our patients’ impressions of surgery abroad after they’ve come to visit us. “I would highly recommend your services to anyone as nothing was too much trouble.”

  1. You made some first rate points there. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most people will go together with with your website.

  2. I am very happy Lisa has a good experience! I would like to think that anyone considering going abroad for surgery has done their research. Travel is tiring. Flying in particular increases not only the risk of exposure to germs in a contained environment, but also swelling or pulmonary embolism and blood clots due to drastic changes in altitude. The exotic scenery may be hard to enjoy when on a liquid diet or in pain from a procedure. Yet another consideration is infectious diseases not commonly found in the United States. You depend on your immune system to recover from any surgery and would not want it compromised by pathogens you are not accustomed to. If something goes wrong, there may be no recourse. Ultimately, one must weigh safety, legal recourse, and comfort against those lower prices that may be attractive when considering cosmetic surgery abroad.
    Dr. Branman

    1. Dr Branman – Great point but surgery – I dont know where in Europe could be regarded as Exotic… Its under a 2 hour flight and most people stay in destination for 1 week after their procedure so DVT risks are reduced as well as wearing flight socks for their return trip.

As for regulation, standards etc… There are somewhat stricter than in the UK. The last medical tourism horror story the UK heard was of a lady going to the US! here is a link to the article http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/british-woman-dies-after-buttock-109519
